Writer :Shahzeb Baig
Journalists are always active in the prosperity of sports and for the way out of their problems. But when find themselves in problems, than could not have any effective forum, through which they could convey their voice.  Few years back Sindh Sports journalist association was formed for the improvement of professional duties, obviation to problem being faced, collaboration, and continuation of healthy activities. Since its formation, SJAS is fortunate to get full support of its members. Despite the indecent behavior, and unnecessary impediments of trouble makers and the antagonists, SJAS is successfully advancing towards its goal with every sun rise and every day passed. Last year SJAS found the memorable day to take it to further successes through the electoral process. It was unanimously agreed to fix 03 October 2015 to elect the representatives. To conduct the elections, various venues were taken into consideration and Karachi Press Club which has its own unique history for raising voice for the rights of journalists was finally chosen for the event. Candidates of two panels, united and founder had competed for the election. United panel achieved the success with heavy margin in the election which was supervised by the two Journalists Sajid Aziz and Rizwan Bhatti. At 2:00 pm poling was started at the scheduled time, which lasted till 6:00pm during which the members had been casting their right of vote. No untoward situation was experienced during the poling and voters had been using their rights peacefully. This time SJAS elections were found different and memorable in many respects. Both the panels had carried out their electioneering on full-scale. Not only members were being contacted through SMS and Emails, but mobile calls were continuously sent to the voters from the candidates till the day before the poling. SJAS elections were very well promulgated on social media and on other sources. Third time SJAS was choosing its office bearers through the elections, and the members had shown their full curiosity, due to which Karachi Press Club was exhibiting a preview of a festival. Access of members into the committee room was in progress and delicious foods were being enjoyed. Few voters were found demanding Biryani and Kheer from the candidates.  Some interesting incidents occurred during electioneering. One of these was unique which reveals an announcement from a candidate to give latest laptops to members as reward to vote him towards his coming out successful, and also assured to credit one million rupees in SJAS’s bank account. The offer became so much popular in the Journalism circle, but most of the sports journalists just enjoyed it, considering a non serious act.

In this regard Imtiaz Naranja, Tariq Aslam, Irshad Ali, and Shahid Ali Khan, and others tirelessly put their efforts for the meetings, which experienced some difficulties. Nobody was agreed to compete for the post of President and Secretary. But seniors intervene and persuaded Tariq Aslam and Muhammad Asghar Azeem and successfully making him agreed. Unlike the last episode, this time new history created in respect of vote casting and out 59 SJAS members, 50 turned out to cast votes, while three members missed voting due to being outstation. Only two votes were rejected by election commissioner Sajid Aziz. However United Panel won eighteen out of Twenty seats and Founders could only take two seats.
