Writer :Shahzeb Baig
Journalists are always active in the prosperity of sports and for the way out of their problems. But when find themselves in problems, than could not have any effective forum, through which they could convey their voice.  Few years back Sindh Sports journalist association was formed for the improvement of professional duties, obviation to problem being faced, collaboration, and continuation of healthy activities. Since its formation, SJAS is fortunate to get full support of its members. Despite the indecent behavior, and unnecessary impediments of trouble makers and the antagonists, SJAS is successfully advancing towards its goal with every sun rise and every day passed. Last year SJAS found the memorable day to take it to further successes through the electoral process. It was unanimously agreed to fix 03 October 2015 to elect the representatives. To conduct the elections, various venues were taken into consideration and Karachi Press Club which has its own unique history for raising voice for the rights of journalists was finally chosen for the event. Candidates of two panels, united and founder had competed for the election. United panel achieved the success with heavy margin in the election which was supervised by the two Journalists Sajid Aziz and Rizwan Bhatti. At 2:00 pm poling was started at the scheduled time, which lasted till 6:00pm during which the members had been casting their right of vote. No untoward situation was experienced during the poling and voters had been using their rights peacefully. This time SJAS elections were found different and memorable in many respects. Both the panels had carried out their electioneering on full-scale. Not only members were being contacted through SMS and Emails, but mobile calls were continuously sent to the voters from the candidates till the day before the poling. SJAS elections were very well promulgated on social media and on other sources. Third time SJAS was choosing its office bearers through the elections, and the members had shown their full curiosity, due to which Karachi Press Club was exhibiting a preview of a festival. Access of members into the committee room was in progress and delicious foods were being enjoyed. Few voters were found demanding Biryani and Kheer from the candidates.  Some interesting incidents occurred during electioneering. One of these was unique which reveals an announcement from a candidate to give latest laptops to members as reward to vote him towards his coming out successful, and also assured to credit one million rupees in SJAS’s bank account. The offer became so much popular in the Journalism circle, but most of the sports journalists just enjoyed it, considering a non serious act.
Formation of Journalist’s panel had been important in many aspects with more than two dozen meetings were held in Press club. In this regard Imtiaz Naranja, Tariq Aslam, Irshad Ali, and Shahid Ali Khan, and others tirelessly put their efforts for the meetings, which experienced some difficulties. Nobody was agreed to compete for the post of President and Secretary. But seniors intervene and persuaded Tariq Aslam and Muhammad Asghar Azeem and successfully making him agreed. Unlike the last episode, this time new history created in respect of vote casting and out 59 SJAS members, 50 turned out to cast votes, while three members missed voting due to being outstation. Only two votes were rejected by election commissioner Sajid Aziz. However United Panel won eighteen out of Twenty seats and Founders could only take two seats. Tariq Aslam of daily Naee baat, and Zubair Nazeer Khan of daily Express Karachi were elected unopposed. Syed Yahya Hussaini of GEO TV had submitted nomination papers, but withdrew his name due to some personal reasons.   Shahid Ali Khan of daily Awam and Ubaid Aawan of Sama TV each took 29 votes and succeeded in SJAS elections. Tariq Hussain of daily The Duniya fought for Vice President and could only obtained 27 votes. Fight for the seat of treasurer occurred between Irshad Ali of Aaj TV and Faizan Lakhani, but lady of luck was kid to Irshad Ali who secured the seat with 31 votes. Faizan got 15 votes. Australia beat India by five wickets in first ODI

PERTH (AFP) - Steve Smith and George Bailey both scored centuries as Australia cruised to a five wicket win over India in the first one day international at the WACA ground on Tuesday.
After Indian opener Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 171 to lead his country to an imposing 309-3, Australia got away to a rocky start when left arm seamer Barinder Sran removed both openers in his first three overs.
Playing on a lifeless pitch which offered nothing for the bowlers, Bailey and Smith played brilliantly to frustrate the Indian attack.
They rotated the strike throughout the innings to keep the score moving, taking quick singles and hitting boundaries when they needed to increase the pace.
Bailey was the more aggressive early and reached his century before his captain, taking just 106 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.
Smith began to accelerate and followed Bailey to three figures soon after, off only 97 balls including six fours and a towering six.
Bailey eventually fell when he tried to smash another six off Ravi Ashwin and was caught on the boundary by Bhuvneshwar Kumar but Smith continued his incredible vein of form.
He smashed his way to 149 but with only two runs needed for victory he chipped Sran to cover where Virat Kohli claimed an easy catch, leaving James Faulkner to hit the winning run.
"I thought we did well in the field to restrict them to 309," Smith said.
"They looked like they were going to get 350 at one stage."
India must have been confident of defending their total after Sran s impressive start.
He brilliantly caught and bowled Finch (8) in his second over, then had the dangerous Warner (5) caught at midwicket by Kohli in his third.
But the ease with which Australia chased the score down showed that India had not scored quickly enough in the middle of their innings and were at least 20 runs short of a competitive total.
"I think it s important that after you score 300 runs you bowl well and I think in the middle overs when the spinners were bowling they gave up too many runs," Dhoni said.
"I was quite happy with the fast bowling performance -- I thought they bowled well and hit the right spots."
Earlier Sharma and Kohli (91) shared a 207-run partnership for the second wicket against a toothless Australian attack.
India lost opener Shikhar Dhawan (9) in the sixth over when he top-edged an attempted pull from Josh Hazlewood straight to Mitchell Marsh at deep backward square leg.
However, that brought Kohli to the crease and signalled a long period of complete dominance over the Australian attack as he raced to the highest individual ODI score against Australia on Australian soil, eclipsing Viv Richards  153 not out for the West Indies in 1979.
Sharma smashed 13 fours and cleared the boundary seven times to the delight of the large contingent of Indian fans at the ground.
He built his innings steadily, bringing up his 50 from 63 balls, his century from 122 and his 150 from 155, mixing quick singles with some powerful boundary hitting.
It was the fourth time Sharma had scored 150 in ODIs, a record only surpassed by countryman Sachin Tendulkar.
Sharma lost Kohli with the score on 243 and was joined at the crease by Dhoni, who joined in with 18 rapid runs before he was caught brilliantly at mid-on by Boland.
However, despite the late flourish the Indians fell short and Australia were able to draw first blood in the five-match series.

LISBON (AFP) - Cristiano Ronaldo s statue in Funchal, capital of his home island of Madeira, has been tagged with the name and shirt number of arch-rival Lionel Messi, according to local press reports.

The graffiti was put on the statue overnight on Tuesday, just hours after Barcelona s Argentine star Messi claimed a fifth world player of the year award, beating out Real Madrid s Portuguese striker and three-time Ballon d Or winner Ronaldo in the process.

The name Messi and the number 10, both scrawled in red, had already been cleaned off the statue, the Diario de Noticias da Madeira said.

"It s a shameful act committed out of jealousy towards him," said Ronaldo s sister Katia Aveiro, with pictures of the tagged statue predictably doing the rounds on social media.

Ronaldo unveiled the 3.40-metre-high bronze effigy of himself in December 2014 on the Funchal seafront, a few hundred metres from his own self-financed museum.Ronaldo statue in Madeira
